#WRCC12 draws to a close

As this years commuter challenge (#WRCC12) has come to an end, the question that’s most pressing in my mind is: How many new cycling commuters have we added? The one quote from the Hans Moor kick off that sticks with me is how do we actively convert the 60% of Waterloo Region folks who state they would cycle if it was safer, easier and more convenient. It’s a question that I’ll be pondering this summer for sure. Hans Moor was terrific – #WRCC12

The Waterloo Region Commuter Challenge kickoff event for 2012 was a hit in my books The keynote speaker Hans Moor was a treat, exceeded my expectations by a long shot. Met up with a number of old friends who share a love for cycling and sustainable, responsible living Met a few folks who previously I’d only met on social media. It was great to finally put a face to a name. The region and cities demonstrated they are listening to their citizens, providing updates on active transportation plans and projects. Commuter Challenge 2012 – Waterloo Region

I’m really looking forward to this years Commuter Challenge. It actually started today (June 3) and runs until June 9th. It is a fantastic national celebration of alternative transportation. Folks throughout the Region of Waterloo do an amazing job making it a regional celebration with the kick off happening tomorrow from 4.30pm to 8pm at the UW School of Pharmacy at the intersection of King and Victoria in Kitchener.
